Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor - Rules | IJGT

Tee placements are not set until the IJGT tournament staff arrives on site. Competition set-up can change prior to the event; this includes yardages which may be adjusted to offset inclement weather or other golf course conditions (i.e. wet, damp conditions).

The following yardages are just a guideline:

Boys 15-19 Division: 6600 - 7000 Yards
Boys U-14 Division: 5900 - 6300 Yards
Girls Division: 5800 - 6200 Yards

The committee will allow for the use of distance measuring devices under rule 14-3.  Please note, such devices must only measure distance and no other factors such as slope, wind or gradient.

2011-12 USGA Rules of Golf, its Decisions and the local rules on both sides of this sheet shall govern play at this IJGT tournament. Unless otherwise provided, penalty for breach of local rule in Stroke Play is two strokes. Disregard all local rules printed on the club scorecard.

One-Ball Rule Is Not In Effect.  Any golf ball used at this IJGT tournament shall be listed on the most recent USGA Conforming Ball List.  Penalty for breach of this rule is disqualification.

Water Hazards--Regular water hazards are identified by yellow stakes and defined by yellow lines.  Lateral water hazards are identified by red stakes and defined by red lines and include unmarked drainage ditches and other open water courses.

Embedded Ball--Relief is "through the green".  Anywhere "through the green", a ball which is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.

Ground Under Repair--is identified by enclosed white lines.  French drains, fire ant hills, prepared flowerbeds, and newly sodded areas, whether or not so marked are ground under repair.  White-lined areas tying into cart paths are part of those obstructions.  A ball off the ground in a bush or tree rooted in ground under repair is in ground under repair.

Stipulated Round - the competition is 36 holes of stroke play consisting of four 9-hole stipulated rounds.  If a round can not be completed due to darkness/weather, the round will be 9 holes.

Starting Play--A player is responsible for promptly being at the assigned tee time to begin play.  A player needs to arrive at least five minutes prior to the assigned tee time in order to receive all pertinent information.  Players will not be called to the assigned tee.  If a player arrives within five minutes after the assigned tee time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes instead of disqualification (Rule 6-3b, Note).  After five minutes has elapsed, the penalty is disqualification.

Caddies and Carts--A player may not have a caddy or use automotive transportation during the stipulated tournament rounds except where such transportation is authorized by the committee.  Penalty for breach of this rule is disqualification.

Slow Play—A group is subject to timing if they are 1) behind on time and 2) out of position. The entire group will receive a verbal warning and asked to regain their golf course position. Each player will be subject to timing until the group regains position. A player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds to play a stroke is subject to an individual warning for slow play and will be advised of that fact.  The player will be notified that a second violation of exceeding 40 seconds will result in a penalty of one stroke.  A third violation will result in a two-stroke penalty, followed by disqualification for a fourth violation. A player's time to play begins when the player has had a reasonable opportunity to reach his ball and when it is the player's turn to play and can do so without interference or distraction.  Penalties are applied individually, but more than one competitor in a group may be penalized.

Suspension of Play--A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one long air horn blast.  All players shall be informed verbally.  All play shall cease immediately.  All practice areas shall be closed during a suspension of play, until the committee has declared them open again.  Other types of suspension shall be signaled by two consecutive air horn blasts.  Resumption of play shall be signaled by three short air horn blasts.

Doubt as to Procedure/Second Ball--Stroke play only, Rule 3-3 is in effect.  Before proceeding under this rule a player must 1) Declare his/her intentions to invoke this rule, 2) Declare which ball he/she will score with if the Rules permit.  See Rule 3-3 for complete details.  A second ball played under Rule 3-3 is not a provisional ball.  Player must report all facts to the committee.

Scorecards—A scorecard is deemed official once the player leaves the scoring area.

Playoff--Playoffs for 1st place in any age division will go to an immediate sudden-death playoff.  If tie not decided by Appendix I, then the competitors scorecards will be matched from the ninth hole backwards until the tie is broken.

Electronic Devices/Range Finders— The committee will allow for the use of distance measuring devices under rule 14-3.  Please note, such devices must only measure distance and no other factors such as slope, wind or gradient.
